View from the balcony, not too rough! As ever, you can check out Christophe's photo work here.
Day Three
9:30am as I write, as you can see from photo, clear golden day. Expect 20-30knot seabreeze, tide still ebbing (high at 12:42) but down to 1.2m, so should be the best day so far.
Day Two
Little bit of light rain in the morning, cloudy and cool. Blue sky appeared and flight 1 got going in a marginal two wire NE'ly. Benny Austin and Pistol scored a house wife's favorite victory over Rob Greenhalgh and Phil Harmer. Rumours that Rob & Phil passed inside all three bombora marks - not legal - but his result stands, by the grace of God goes thee. Both boats looks fast. Next, we got to have a go and after three generals got away in a 12 knot NE'ly, building to 14/15 knots by the end. 1.4m tide was high at 11:45am, so we had run out all day. Very enjoyable conditions. Only fly in the ointment was our rudder up down control stopped working on the gun of the last start and it took us many minutes to fix and start. 4th from the end at the first mark... I daresay the leaders had already rounded the bottom mark. We whizzed through the fleet but not enough tarmac on the runway and 20th by the time we made it home. Meanwhile up the fleet Archie and Dan won easily from Mark Cristic who in turn was well clear of 3rd. Speed good, boat maintenance less than perfect.
Day One
SE'ly 8-14knots, high tide 10:53am at Camp Cove, with a bit of a seaway in the top half of the track. Rain fronts washing through every so often. Ebbing tide all day, 1.6m. Very good conditions. We were first fleet out with two races to do. 5th or 6th at the first turn, still finding our feet with new stick, but kinda ok. Poor downhill... we're working on it... and dropped from the 3rd-6th pack back into the 7th-12th pack. Good work two but then bit unlucky dropped 3 on the way to the bottom mark and 12th overall. Archie and Dan 1st, Rob and Phil 2nd and both boats looking very fast. Those two boats plus us have very stiff spars, I guess they're a few more days along the tuning cycle. Plenty to work on to get this ship going faster! Race two Blackflagged but luckily enough we got Redress... nonetheless it's quite unfair... 5 races to qualify of which 4 count towards the average and then we drop the worst... well this means our outcome is a function of our worst race... poor redress from the protest committee but apparently not debateable. I won't be at all surprised if Dan and Archie (they also BKD->RDG) get matchraced in race 5.
